BACKYARD PROJECT: 3.2’ x 5.6’

ACRYLIC PAINT

Inspired by the graffiti seen when traveling through the CalTrain on the way to San Francisco, behind a plaza in San Jose, and the hallway of California State Summer School for the Arts(CSSSA), I observed the techniques from gradients to highlights and various backgrounds that could be created with spray paint. Space was limited, so attempting a gradient spray would be impossible, leaving me to opt for simple shadows and highlights with a black outline. This project was simply to learn how to use spray paint, and led to other opportunities such as spray painting the jerseys of homecoming dances, and using posca pens to graffiti a miniature dumpster for a teacher at my high school.
